![]() We’re pleased to recognize Skylar Brown and Lauren Degenstein, who are the first recipients of the scholarship as students currently enrolled in the MSc program. We were inspired by Iain’s own commitment to developing future leaders in the apparel and textile space through his innovation team which includes five graduates from University of Alberta’s Textiles and Apparel Sciences program. To celebrate this accomplishment and invest in the next generation of talent, a scholarship was created by Canadian Tire at the University of Alberta to honour Iain’s achievement. Working with a variety of stakeholders, Iain overcame numerous government regulatory challenges to bring this product to market – a 10-year journey of perseverance for a product he believed Canadians needed. As the only mosquito-repellent clothing of its kind in Canada, this exciting development distinguished Mark’s as an organization of innovative products for Life in Canada. ![]() Iain Summers, VP Industrial, Footwear & Innovation, Mark’s, is the force behind WindRiver Tick and Mosquito-Repellent clothing, a line of permethrin-treated apparel and accessories available only at Mark’s. The Canadian Tire “Iain Summers Scholarship in Textile Science” was launched in 2020 to recognize Iain’s contributions in the apparel and footwear space.
